Life at Vernon Road
Welcome to our vibrant Upper School at Vernon Road. As our Year 3 pupils graduate from Lower School, they embark on an exciting transition to our second site, affectionately known as VR. This charming, historic church building is home to our wonderful older pupils and offers a unique atmosphere that beautifully complements their educational journey.
Our spacious school hall, with its impressive vaulted ceilings, serves as the hub for morning breaks. Each year group enjoys a 15-minute rotation in the hall, where our dedicated Assistant Teachers facilitate a variety of engaging activities. Amongst the children’s favourites are giant jenga, gymnastics mats for those eager to practice their cartwheels and somersaults, vaulting boxes with soft crash mats for safety, table tennis, and a brand-new rotating table for snooker and air hockey. We also have a selection of board games, a drawing table for budding artists, and our inviting library, which is always open for those who wish to unwind with a good book. Our goal is to ensure there’s something for everyone!
Lunchtime works slightly differently, as the hall is reserved as a space for eating. After a nutritious hot lunch, we walk the children over to Mortlake Green, where they can enjoy the fresh air and spacious surroundings. They have the opportunity to participate in the ‘daily mile,’ running around the perimeter to promote daily exercise—something we are truly passionate about at Thomson House School.
Life at Vernon Road is designed to be a wonderful experience, filled with fun and lasting memories, all while fostering independence in our curious young learners.
