Thomson House believes strongly in having a global outlook to education. Modern Foreign Languages start in Reception with Italian which is currently also taught in Year 1. Our fabulous Italian teacher comes to us from the Italian Consulate and is a native Italian speaker.

We are proud to work with the British Council and have joined their innovative programme ‘Schools Online’ in order to link with schools in other countries. The British Council also runs a programme called Connecting Classrooms which we intend to be part of during the next academic year – where our children will work jointly on a project with a school in another country. This helps Thomson House children to have a wider understanding of other cultures and to have an enquiring and outward looking perspective on life.

Thomson House is proud to host a Spanish School, Ola, on a Saturday morning, and a Mandarin school, Little Panda, on a Sunday morning. There is an opportunity for some Thomson House children to attend Little Panda and learn Mandarin free of charge.

The curriculum at Thomson House has a global perspective as we use elements of the International Primary Curriculum in our teaching. We also have theme weeks once per term which often have an international outlook – for example, we have recently had a theme week on Brazil and the World Cup and another on the Centenary of World War 1.
